Erin Young
Fine Arts Painter in Katy, Texas
Art has always been part of my life, but these days, it’s something deeper—both a challenge and a pathway to clarity.
I paint to see what’s possible, to find out whether I can capture something just right. The process demands my full focus, drawing me into the present moment while allowing me to linger in warm memories of people, places, and quiet scenes that have stayed with me.
I work from my home studio in Katy, using oils, acrylics, gouache, and mixed media. My creative process is fluid—I follow sparks of inspiration, whether it's a technique I want to try or a moment I want to preserve. Each piece becomes a dialogue between my intentions and the materials themselves. What starts as a mistake often becomes the best part of the work.
I’m drawn to familiar things: scenes and objects that radiate beauty, warmth, and fondness. A worn pair of shoes. A heaping ice cream cone. A thriving succulent on the kitchen table. These are the moments worth pausing for—the ones we too often rush past. My paintings honor them.
This practice is deeply personal for me. My father has advanced Alzheimer’s disease, and I carry the genetic mutation that causes Familial Alzheimer’s. That reality shapes everything. It pushes me to notice, to appreciate, to preserve what’s beautiful right now—and to spend my time doing what matters. Painting is part of my mental wellness. It’s how I process, celebrate, and remember.
When people connect with my work, I hope they feel something familiar and meaningful. Maybe they’re moved by the realism. Maybe they feel seen by the choice of subject. Maybe both. I want them to sense the care, the time, and the quiet joy behind each piece.
I offer original paintings, commissions, murals, and live painting. And I share peeks into my process and progress. I'm always open to discussing custom work or creative collaborations.
If my work speaks to you in any way, I'd love to hear about it; please reach out.
